MISSION VIEJO, CA — A white Toyota minivan collided with a dark gray BMW four-door sedan in Mission Viejo Monday, for unknown reasons. Three were injured in the violent crash that left tire marks across the road and airbags deployed in all vehicles.
The crash occurred on Felipe Road and Hawk Hill at 1:45 p.m., according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi. The collision ripped the front off the BMW, and left the driver’s side of the minivan smashed.
As of 3:15 p.m. traffic in the area between Oso Parkway and La Paz was still at a standstill as officers interviewed witnesses and conducted their investigation.
Two men in their 20’s and one lady in her late 40’s were all taken by ambulance to the hospital.
"The woman was taken as a trauma patient in moderate condition to Mission Hospital," Concialdi told Patch. "Fortunately all three were wearing their seat belts, otherwise they would have suffered more severe injuries due to the crash."
According to Mission Viejo Police Services alcohol, drugs were not suspected as a cause for the collision.
"Just bad driving," the MV OCSD police services spokesperson said.
Investigators remained at the scene as of 3:15 p.m.
